Bernard van Wyk
Chief Investment Officer
With over 25 years of experience in asset management, investment consulting, and portfolio strategy across institutional, ultra-high-net-worth, and advisory channels, Bernard brings extensive expertise in strategic asset allocation, multi-asset portfolio construction, fund manager selection, and global investment strategies. Bernard is responsible for leading investment strategy, overseeing portfolio construction, and delivering tailored local and offshore solutions.
Bernard holds a BCom in Mathematical Statistics from Stellenbosch University, and is a CFA Charterholder.
George Edwards
Portfolio Manager
George is a Portfolio Manager, where he manages discretionary portfolios and develops investment strategies for private clients, trust, and institutional mandates. His expertise spans portfolio management, equity research, and portfolio construction, forming the foundation of tailored client investment solutions.
He holds a BCom (Hons) in Financial Analysis & Portfolio Management from the University of Cape Town and a BCom in Mathematical Statistics from Stellenbosch University.
Pieter Edwards
Quantitative Investment Strategist & Data Engineer
Pieter is a Quantitative Investment Strategist & Data Engineer at Guardian Capital, where he designs systematic investment strategies and architects the firm’s data and reporting infrastructure. His work bridges quantitative research, portfolio construction, financial engineering, and data science.
He holds a BCom (Hons) in Actuarial Science and is a Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa (FASSA) and a Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary (CERA).
Jan Edwards
Cloud & Data Engineer
Jan is a Cloud & Data engineer at Guardian Capital, where he leads the firm’s technology strategy, quantitative models, and data infrastructure. He brings deep experience across data science, software engineering, machine learning, and financial technology.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic with Computer Science from Stellenbosch University.

After starting his career as an attorney in Cape Town, he transitioned into financial planning and founded Subventum Financial Services in 2006 to offer clients truly independent advice. Known for his integrity and long-term client relationships, Diekie tailors his guidance to each individual’s evolving needs. He’s also a devoted husband and father of two boys, and his family enjoys spending time outdoors—whether it's swimming, sports or camping during summer holidays.
